  • The course costs £4,400 - this can be paid in full, or in instalments between now and the end (so for example if you enrolled in March ‘24, those payments would work out at £122 pm).

  • We’ve been training teachers for over ten years.

    The course will be led by Ian Davis (a Yoga teacher for 22 years) and Jane Macpherson (yoga therapist for 12 years and Director and founder member of the Yoga Therapy Association).

    The modules will be led by highly experienced yoga teachers and yoga therapists as well as medical professionals in the NHS and other mental and physical health practitioners

The training.

Learn how yoga therapy is an integrated mind body approach to help restore balance and physical, mental and emotional functioning.

Understand how to apply yogic philosophy models to identify physical, physiological, mental and emotional imbalances.

Learn how to use yoga as therapy to help with issues such as pain management, trauma, aging, grief, anxiety, eating disorders and addictions.

Explore and practice techniques to help identify and assess what’s really going on for your students and clients.

Encourage inner healing through practical adaptions, home practices with measureable outcomes that are uniquely tailored to the individual.

Develop an in-depth knowledge of physical, physiological and mental health conditions and a deeper understanding of the mind body connection.

Properly understand the therapeutic power and application of yoga techniques such as movement, breath, sound, mudra and bandhas.

Practical business and finance skills to help you set up your own yoga therapy practice and how to work with other medical professionals.

Each teacher and supervisor on this course is chosen for their unique experience and most up to date knowledge in their specific field .

The majority of the course will be in-person to allow the sharing and unique interaction that comes from these environments to make sure you can grow in both understanding and confidence plus benefit from sharing information and experiences first hand.

You will complete 15 in person weekends, practical work via supervised yoga therapy practice sessions, home study reading, case studies and research.

This course is aimed only at those who have a real drive to help make a difference.

Syllabus.

15 Module Weekends

  • Over the 15 weekends, you will be taught by experienced yoga therapists and other experts to help develop you into a knowledgeable, caring and confident yoga therapist to help your clients improve their health and wellness.

    Discover how the ancient texts and models of yoga philosophy will help guide your understanding of the issues and concerns facing your client.

    Models such as the Koshas, the Gunas, Prana Vayus and Chakras, enable you to holistically work with your client in a practical way yet rooted in the profound system of yoga.

    Building on your knowledge of functional anatomy and physiology and learn and understand how yoga as therapy can provide relief and healing to many common conditions of the body and mind.

    Understand neurological functioning and how yoga as therapy can help alleviate a number of common mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression, trauma, eating disorders and addictions

    Examine how asana, and the application of somatic movement and bodywork can have a profound effect on the mind and body

    Understand how the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of yoga therapy and how to develop your own skills as a therapist that has your clients’ needs at the heart of everything you do..

    Using the yogic techniques of pranayama, mudra and bandha to help your clients in their own transformation and healing.

    Learn and experience for yourself the power of meditation. Learn various meditative techniques to help guide your clients through pratyahara, dharana and dhyana.

    Realise the power of relaxation and rest and experience for yourself the profound effects of Yoga Nidra.

    Practical advice on how to set up your own professional practice including your legal and financial responsibilities.

    Understand how to work with medical professionals in the NHS and other mental and physical health practitioners.

    Each module weekend is a Friday evening, Saturday all day and Sunday all day. Timings for the weekends are Friday 6pm to 9pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am to 6pm (latest) with an hour at lunch and plentiful breaks for cups of tea.

Yoga Therapy in Practice

  • Attend and evaluate your own personal yoga therapy sessions locally.

    Work with genuine clients in a supported and supervised therapeutic environment.

    These begin from October ‘24.

    Fully supervised clinic sessions to guide, develop and hone your new skills as a yoga therapist.

    Detailed guidance from experienced yoga therapists and the opportunity to practice and discuss your experiences with your supervisor and fellow trainees.

    Case studies with your own chosen clients with ongoing supervision from a yoga therapist who will supervise and assist you.

Self Study

  • Dig into the topics before and after each module.

    Choose a condition to research in your own specific area of interest.

    Reflect on your own therapeutic journey and your experiences as you grow as a yoga therapist.

Full attendance is required for all the weekend modules and in practice sessions. Completion of these plus the self study and homework will enable you to graduate as a fully qualified Yoga Therapist.

Pricing.

Register with a deposit and then the rest of the course is split into instalments for the months until the course ends. That means the sooner you enrol, the smaller the payments.

The total cost is £4,400.

Deposit of £270 to register and then 35 monthly payments of £118.
