Tina Pashumati James warmly invites you to join her for her Ashtanga Vinyasa 5-Day Immersion and 2-Day Immersions.

The 5 Day Immersion can be used as personal development, advanced training, a foundation course or as the required 30 hour pre-teacher training for those who wish to take their teacher training course at a later stage in India with Tina. 

Requirements to join the 5 Day Program:

- A passion for yoga

- A desire to deepen your own practice

- A daily yoga practice

- A minimum of 12 months practicing yoga, with a qualified teacher

For the 2 Day Program, the above and in addition:

- To have practiced the Ashtanga Primary Series, the Intermediate series and some of the Third Series.

Spend your days immersed in your practice, learning about the correct method and technique, and the meaning and beauty of Ashtanga Yoga with Tina Pashumati.

If you love practicing Ashtanga Yoga or want to learn more about it, this is a wonderful opportunity to spend five days (or seven days) getting to know this beautiful tradition of Yoga. With daily morning led primary series practice and one Mysore, with an option to follow with a two day intermediate immersion - safely guided by Tina. Tina has included techniques and vedic mantra, pranayama workshops for Primary and Intermediate series, and some therapeutics for mental health cancer and much more, each student regardless of their experience, will be able to deepen and enrich their practice.

We will have a final Arati and also ponder the future of lineage and working to create a new way of looking at diet and lifestyle. We’ll journal daily and also each person will learn and share the opening and closing Ashtanga mantras.

About Tina:

An internationally recognised pioneer in yoga and traditional yoga therapy, Tina Pashumati James has been changing people’s lives for nearly 30 years. Loka Yoga in Whistler and The Nook in Brackendale are Tina’s own yoga studios. 

By teaching asana, pranayama, mantra, and activism, Tina teaches yoga from an intuitive and highly developed understanding of the human body and psyche.  With her meticulous guidance, Tina’s goal is ultimate freedom and liberation for students, notwithstanding the activism that a person will feel and the will to want to serve.

Tina has generated extensive worldwide media coverage as one of Manju Jois’ Ashtanga yoga teachers, though she also studied with Shri K Pattabhi Jois in the early days. Sharon Gannon and David Life, founders of Jivamukti Yoga, asked her to mentor twice in 2008 and 2012; Tina sat on the advanced board with them in New York. “Sharon inspired me to be radical truth seeker”, cites Pashumati. She is  grateful to Shyamdas, her Bhakti Teacher, and Manorama, her Sanskrit Teacher too and Tina also studied Georg Feuerstein’s 800 hour philosophy programme.  

Pashumati has created many new programmes and is especially passionate about Love your Cancer: Yoga and meditation with the Green Moustache in Canada, working with the plant-based Gerson Therapy for healing Cancer. Nada yoga is used for Cancer patients, which entails also Vedic hymns and first nation songs.

Tina Pashumati has extensive study and clinical application of healing modalities in yoga, including sound and shamanic ceremonies. She enjoyed working with her friend and teacher Danny Paradise, who uses shamanism and Ashtanga. Tina is also a ski patrol medic, death doula and wedding facilitator. She has an unceasing pursuit of serving animals and protecting the oceans, and has been a lifelong vegan. Undertaking studies in sweat lodge, vision quest and sundance with first nations elders, Pashumati is just about to receive her first pipe. She loves to be with her elders, studying plant medicine and ancient ceremonies and is also spending the next four years sundancing to serve herself and pray for a consecutiveness to all things.

Other notable personal achievements include high altitude mountaineer work, helpijg young people with severe learning difficulties, running numerous marathons, setting up the first climbing wall in England and being on the UK show Gladiators. However, it is worth noting that all these feats do not warrant as much importance for Tina as radiating light and love.

Though Tina continues to teach throughout the year around the world, her heart is always with the animals. Yoga is renowned as an intensely physical, philosophical, internally focused spiritual practice that emphasizes self-awareness, devotion (bhakti), non-harming (ahimsa), and has the ability to shift one’s perception by means of breathing. It is therefore magic, a transformative experience off the mat and into the environment. The “wild child” of yoga, Tina’s passion is to live in the present moment and be an extreme adventurer. She says, “Spontaneity is the best kind of adventure,” and works tirelessly to protect the bears and their environment, the oceans and forests.

Her lineage:

Tina's first teacher was Ann Hobdell a brilliant student of Derick Island,and John Scott, she shared with Tina Ashtanga Yoga, Tina had been practicing  Yoga for several years before this time to keep her body and mind healthy, she really had no idea what she was doing just loved the feeling she had after breathing and moving consciously. 

Shri K Pattabhi Jois and Manju jois became her teachers She studied and read as much as she could about all the old scripturers, She loved their truth and discipline and the fact that she could learn from Father and son who had lived Yoga and wanted it to be a gateway to Freedom. she attended Shri Pattabhi Jois home Ashram in Mysore for many years, and her last trip there was for his  90 birthday in Mysore, she travelled there to be with this incredible Teacher, and learn as much from him as she could, he was Humble, and quite brilliant, and a master in all aspects. 


Tina’s later  beloved teachers, Sharon Gannon and David Life (the founders of Jivamukti), have a direct lineage to Shri Brahmanada Sarasvati, Shri, Swami Nirmalanananda and Shri K Pattabhi jois. Tina forever thanks them and Shyam Das, her beloved Bhakti Teacher; not forgetting Manorama, her sanskrit Teacher for the past 12 years, and Danny Paradise, her good friend and a fellow Ashtanga teacher.
